Lot's of things are happening this week at Gould!

Now until Friday: Fall Candy Grams are for sale! Only 50 cents will let a friend know you are thinking about them! All money goes for Kiss-a-Pig!

Wednesday, Oct 17: Bring your parents to lunch day! Join your child for lunch at 12:30 this Wednesday!

Stock Market Game Week 2: Currently our class has 2 teams in the top 20 in Chatham County! The students are competing against grade 4-12, which means our class is beating students older than them! Great job! Congratulations to Money Makers and Angels Inc. who are currently ranked 12th & 17th in the county!

Also, author Elvira Woodruff noticed our class on Donors Choose. She emailed me and is sending us 25 copies of her book George Washington's Socks, and is willing to write and video chat with us once we finish! It is so exciting a real author is willing to share her work with our class and take the time to talk to us!

Donors Choose Match Offer!

Some of you know that our class is on Donors Choose. Donors Choose is a non-profit organization that helps classrooms receive free supplies, such as books, technology, and school supplies. Currently our class has three projects up for classroom books! 

Donors Choose is also hosting a "match the money" offer this week! That means for any amount donated, if you use the special match code below, Donors Choose will match your money!

Spread the word! Send friends and family to http://www.donorschoose.org/themrsmith and ask them to support our classroom.

Also, the Scholastic Order deadline has been extended to Friday for those last few who have notified me they plan on ordering. Please be sure to have your orders in no later than Friday! Click here for instructions for online ordering!

Last week, as we begin to wrap up our unit on The Strange Case of Origami Yoda by Tom Angleberger, we made our own origami Yoda's from this video! Feel free to make one at home since the instructions are from the author himself!

On Wednesday, Sept 26, progress reports for the first marking period will be sent home. Please review your student's grades and returned signed as soon as possible.

On Thursday, Sept 27 at 6:30, Gould will have our first PTA meeting of the year! I look forward to seeing you there!

Forms & Information

In case you did not get (or have misplaced) the forms and information sent home with your child at open house, feel free to download it again here! All forms and registration should be returned no later than August 31st! Thanks for all your help and support!

4th Grade Premiere TONIGHT!

Tonight is Gould Elementary's Open House. So, what will be happening at this red carpet extravaganza? Here are a few things you should do:

1. Be sure to sign in by the door
2. Students can participate in the scavenger hunt (at the door).
   If you can answer Mr. Smith's questions, you get a prize!
3. Be sure to gather all information from your child's desk. 
   Take everything on the desk, but leave everything that's inside the desk.
4. If you are a car rider, please be sure to get the green sheet of info on the round table.
5. Say hello to Mr. Smith to find out the exciting things we have going on this year!
